Boatyards and marinas, clubs and sailing schools which have pontoons, pilings, moorings or slipways will be subject to various requirements in terms of construction and maintenance, prevention of fouling as well as some considerations in the materials used in their construction.

The Yacht Harbour Association has produced a Code of Practice for the design, construction and operation of coastal and inland marinas and yacht harbours. This is a very valuable document that covers a wide range of topics including marina design, environment and pollution prevention and boatyard operation.

The Code of Practice is available to TYHA members.
